My time at GSP has been absolutely invaluable. I feel like this program helped me grow as a person and for that, I am so grateful. So thank you to Peyton, my RA, for being amazing. My time at Yerkes was made so much better by your fun personality and your empathy for the girls in our hall. And thank you for all the concessions you made for us, it made our dorm so much closer. Thank you to Lucy, who runs my leadership seminar. You are so encouraging and you made me feel like the things I said in your class had value. I’m sorry about your ankle. Thank you to Jim, my general studies teacher. You made class interesting and fun every day. Your habit of questioning our thoughts forced us to think so much deeper and that’s something I really appreciate. Thank you to Hayley, our journalism instructor. You created an environment where we were free to be creative and work on stuff that matters to us and if this paper has any value at all. It’s because you were there to lead it. And finally, thank you to everyone I met here; my classmates, acquaintances, and friends. GSP has been amazing purely because of you and the community you helped build. You are the reason I’m going to miss this place so much. By: Kaylin Lafferty
I could not be more happy with my time here. Thank you to those who I played cards with, played tennis with, played soccer with, played ping pong with, played pickle ball with, you all made my GSP experience so much fun. Thank you to my hall, we're such an interesting group of guys and you all always kept me on my toes. Muslim Christmas was absolutely incredible. Thank you to the faculty, specially James and Hayley for helping me learn and grow as a student and a person. Thank you to my focus area for keeping it interesting. I loved working for the Governor's Scholars Post and I am so happy with what we put out there. I will never forget the experience that we had. Thank you to GSP for accepting me into this program. This was a life changing experience that I will never forget. Thank you to my family for supporting me through the process of applying and being some of the few to read my articles. Thank you all so much. I will miss the program dearly. Until next time… By Gabriel Reed

On the first day of GSP, I was terrified. Too many unfamiliar faces and an overwhelming amount of people I was not yet prepared for. This rush of anxiety was quickly calmed during our first hall meeting sharply after our parents left us for the first time since we’d arrived. Abbie Davidson was my assigned R.A., and still with feelings of uncertainty about being here, her presence was so ever calming. With her bubbly personality and witty humor I would soon learn I would look forward to my hall meetings at night and be excited to gather as a hall each and every day. As my time here is winding down these special 10-15 minutes I continue to hold close to heart. The complete and random knowledge of all kinds of plants, as well as having to tell us to shush and just let her get through the column 4-8 times, these meetings with my pod mates and Abbie have been a highlight of my GSP experience. I have grown close with the girls I live with and have created bonds that will last a lifetime. With that I give gratitude to Abbie for creating such a positive and welcoming environment for all of us to truly be ourselves and be open with each other. Therefore, to Abbie, thank you for helping shape the scholar and person I am today and thank you for being such a big part of my unforgettable experience over the past 5 weeks at GSP!! Thank you. |
